Audition Monologue Choices

This is the 3rd part of your audition video. Please select at least one or two monologues. These are meant for you to show us what you would do with these characters. These are monologues from the show and are best read with another person. They can read them off camera or join you in the video! BUT if you can not find someone to do it with you; you may read for both parts. Have Fun!

Other roles that will be considered in casting. 

CHESHIRE CAT (1, 2, & 3; Male or Female-non singing role) the perpetually

grinning narrator of the story, is a magical feline

who doesn’t always agree with itself. Because

this role is played by three actors, these kids will need to be charismatic

actors who can play mischievous and mysterious

to both Alice and the audience. Must have great diction and

volume, as they are responsible for a lot of the

story’s important narration.

WHITE RABBIT (Male-Solo), the fussy royal trumpeter, is

ever worried that he is running terribly late. Look

for an actor who can exude his nervous energy

through constant fidgety movement. Because of

his wordy solo, excellent diction is also a plus!

DODO BIRD (Male or Female-Solo), the imperious captain of the

Queen’s Navy, leads the caucus race. A

Character with a commanding presence and a

suitable singing voice for this soloist.

TWEEDLE DUM and TWEEDLE DEE (Males Or Females-Solos) are twins

with an exhausting enthusiasm for proper

manners and a penchant for getting very

confused. Superfluously silly, the Tweedles

are a comedy duo. Whomever is cast must have great self-confidence and

aren’t afraid to come up with a bizarre voice or

movement style for this iconic pair.

The ROYAL CARDS – including ACE OF

SPADES, TWO OF CLUBS, THREE OF

DIAMONDS, and FOUR OF HEARTS (small solos)– are

anxious members of the Queen’s royal

contingent. Because the Queen of Hearts

sends them into a royal panic whenever

she’s near, these actors will those who can

physicalize fear in an exaggerated way.

FRIENDS 1 & 2 (Females) are Mathilda’s judgmental,

condescending friends, who are older than Alice

and have no time for her games of make-believe.

These are actors who can bring volume and big

energy to the first scene of the play. 

DOORKNOB (Female or Male-non singing) , the gatekeeper of Wonderland,

knowingly encourages Alice to drink the magic

potion. Will be an actor with a tendency toward

the dramatic who can capture Doorknob’s put-

upon demeanor.

The PARTY GUESTS: set the scene for the

Mad Hatter’s merry tea party by playing

an absurd game of Musical Chairs. This

Ensemble Group can include Wonderland
